Privacy Policy

The short version

There are no accounts. You never tell us your name, your email or your phone number.
We collect four things: a random app id, your purchase status, which features you use, and crash reports.
None of it is linked to your identity. None of it is used for tracking or advertising.
We do not sell your data. We never have and we will not.
Your saved verses and progress stay on your phone, and you can delete or export them from Settings inside the app.

What we collect

This is the whole list. The privacy label on our App Store page says the same.

Anonymous app user id	A random identifier the app generates on your device. It is not your name, your email or your Apple Account.
Purchase history	Whether you have an active subscription, which product, and when it renews. This comes from Apple.
Product interaction	Which screens and features are used, so we can tell what works. Never the content of anything you type.
Crash data	Technical reports when the app stops working.

All four are collected without being linked to your identity, and none is used to track you across other apps or websites.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, location, health data, or any sensitive personal information. The app has no sign in, no user profiles, no messaging and no advertising.

Why we collect it

To make the app work. The anonymous id and your purchase status are how the app knows what you have access to.
To understand aggregate use. Product interaction and crash data tell us which parts are used and what is broken.

Who receives data, and what they get

Service	What it receives
Apple	App Store purchases and receipts. Apple's own privacy policy applies to what Apple does.
Cloudflare	Hosts the content files the app downloads and the app's API. Like any web host it sees the network requests.
RevenueCat	Your subscription status, keyed to the anonymous app user id.
Superwall	Which purchase screen a given anonymous id was shown.
PostHog	Anonymous analytics events. Hosted in the European Union.

No artificial intelligence service is used while the app is running. Nothing you do in the app is sent to one.

How long we keep it

Anonymous analytics events are kept for 12 months and then deleted. Purchase records are kept while your purchase is active, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Your saved verses, your progress and your settings are stored on your device, in a storage area shared with the widget. They are deleted when you delete the app.

Your choices and your rights

Delete my data. In Settings inside the app. It removes what is held for you.
Export my data. In Settings inside the app. It gives you a file of what is held.
Notifications. Each type can be turned off separately in Settings inside the app, and all of them in iOS Settings.
Subscriptions. Manage or cancel in iOS Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions.

Children

Scroll by Heart is rated 4+ and collects nothing that identifies anyone. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them, in line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom

The legal bases for the little processing we do are:

Contract. Providing the service you bought.
Legitimate interest. Keeping the app working and understanding aggregate use.

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Exercise them from Settings inside the app or by writing to psalmery@gmail.com. You can also complain to your local supervisory authority.

If you are in California

We do not sell or share personal information, and we never have. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Make a request under the California Consumer Privacy Act by writing to psalmery@gmail.com.

There is no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link on this site because there is nothing to opt out of. Nothing is sold or shared.

Where data is processed

Data is processed in the United States and, for PostHog analytics, in the European Union. Where data moves out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom it is covered by the standard contractual clauses our providers use.

Security

Data stored on your device is protected by the device's own file protection, which is tied to your passcode. Everything the app sends or receives travels over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but the amount we hold is deliberately small.

Cookies and this website

This website sets no cookies and carries no analytics. It loads no fonts, no trackers and no code from other companies. The home page uses a small amount of its own code to play a sample scene, and nothing else.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes are announced in the app.
